The National Science and Technology Museum opens new channels of communication with society. The new website invites the public to discover a meeting point and take part in an open and lively exchange of views. This is also the aim of the new format Bulletin of Industrial Heritage, published by the mNACTEC Regional System, a unique platform for our industrial, scientific and technological legacy, which will also be published and distributed electronically. The latest information technology allows the way we communicate to be adapted to the new demands of users.
mNACTEC aims to harmoniously integrate tradition and the avant-garde in line with the work started more than 20 years ago: giving new uses to sectors of industrial assets spread across Catalonia harmonised with the new, cultural concerns of contemporary society. Thus, with an eye on both the local and international, it has brought unity to Catalan industrial heritage across 25 museums and cultural centres based around specific themes (leather, cement, coal, flour, etc.) which today make up its Regional System; at the same time, it has galvanised the outside organisation defending the preservation of industrial heritage (TICCIH). The strategies it has driven forward have placed mNACTEC at the forefront of European museology.
In this context, the new Internet portal and the improved bulletin feature as points of reference for the public in relation to their industrial, scientific and technological heritage –an inheritance that has transformed today's world. In the educational field, it also offers a communication forum whose aim is to establish the productive exchange of experiences and serve as a link to the Regional System's museum activities and its cultural projects, so that they can become spaces that stimulate a change of perspective and new debates.
The new mNACTEC communication platforms offer all museum professionals, researchers, students and enthusiasts of this heritage the chance to spread their findings and knowledge further afield.
