This book contains a historical and photographic inventory of paper manufacturers built in the 18 th century in Catalonia which are currently still standing, although the majority are in a state of disuse and have abandoned paper manufacturing. The authors classify and study the paper mills and organise them according to their water sources, as the mills were located close to the rivers that provided them with water and energy.
Paper production, together with the textile, iron and liquor sectors, contributed decisively to the economic growth of Catalonia in the 18 th century.

A hydroelectric power station, an iron bridge, a steam locomotive and a hydraulic system are all historically and culturally important because they represent vehicles for the transmission of ways of seeing and understanding life. They are witnesses to the everyday and the collective memory of work and places. This book approaches the subject of the recovery and evaluation of industrial heritage, from the methodologies, strategies and tools for turning industrial spaces into museums to the creation of more complex entities with clear, unified visions, such as cultural landscapes and heritage parks.

The guide to the exhibition ‘The colour of memories. Cameras through the years' has been published recently. The guide contains a description of more than a hundred cameras and through them it explains the history of a technology, photography, which was born 168 years ago when Niépce made his first heliograph. The catalogue, like the exhibition, shows the evolution of photographic equipment and the technical changes that have taken place, above all now when the latest models of digital cameras are substantially different from the ones there were at first. Through the technical changes an appreciation of the social and cultural evolution of the camera can also be gained.

An updated version of the catalogue-guide to the Museu del Ferrocarril has just been published thanks to the financial support of the Catalan government ministry of culture. this latest edition is in English.

This book offers an updated vision of Manlleu and its society, dedicating an entire section to Manlleu's natural and industrial heritage, developed on the banks of the river Ter. This section consists of five chapters: “Land and River Where the Ter Bends” (by the photographer and naturalist Carles Martorell, who gives an account of the district's landscapes, flora and fauna); “A River of Factories”, “The Manlleu Industrial Canal”, “The Factory”, and “The Stamp of an Industrial City” recount Manlleu's rich heritage, marked by the past as the industrial capital of Osona. The last four chapters were written by Carles García, director of the Ter Industrial Museum.

This book, written by the team at the Premià de Mar Textile Printing Museum, introduces us to the world of textile printing in Catalonia, based on an analysis of the firm Ponsa, which was active for more than a century. The study gives a multi-disciplinary vision of the activity, through its history, technology, art and print designs, offering a look at a good part of a mostly unseen archive. This volume is the first in a series called "Visions of Industrial Heritage", an initiative from the mNACTEC Regional System.

The fourth publication in the Biodiversitat i tecnodiversitat series is dedicated to paper, one of the most important human inventions that, together with the printing press, made the development of the sciences, communication and the expansion of culture possible. Nowadays it would be very difficult to imagine a world without paper: newsprint, different types of paper for printing and writing, toilet paper, wrapping paper and a long etcetera. This publication considers the great diversity of aspects relating to the current process of paper manufacture: the resources, the different manufacturing processes of the pulp and the paper, the reuse and recycling of paper and cardboard.

The Quaderns de Didàctica i Difusió collection releases its 18 th number, this time dedicated to the Capellades Paper Mill Museum. The Vila Mill was founded as a museum in 1958 and has been part of the mNACTEC Regional System since 1986. As a typical example of a Catalan paper mill (and a witness to how the paper industry has influenced the landscape of Capellades), the mill museum shows how the activity of paper manufacturing was first organised in a single building, how the progressive mechanisation of the process developed until the introduction of current manufacturing processes, and also what the state of the paper manufacturing tradition in Catalonia is today.
