The town celebrates its annual festival jointly with the International Ceramics and Pottery Fair, one of the most important fairs of its type in Europe. It also coincides with the Càntir Festival, a unique event that combines religious devotion, games of strength and ingenuity and the election of the year’s best ceramic pitcher.
A meeting place for collectors, the Vic Antiques Fair (Fira d'Antiguitats de Vic - FAV) displays both vintage pieces (at least 50 years old) and antiques (more than 100 years old). There are also other activities, such as the Young Interior Designers Competition. The fair runs from August 22-30.
The aim of the “Industrial heritage, ecology and economy” congress is to define environmental, economic, technical, social and historical problems with regard to industrial heritage in the modern world. The congress is seen as a possible future forum where these concepts can be presented and discussed, and where participants can work to find appropriate solutions.
Date: September 17-18, 2009 The University of Barcelona Cultural Management programme organises conferences each year in September. The conference sessions are open to professionals from all over Spain and Latin America. This year’s subject aims to spark in depth reflection about the mission and strategies of cultural projects as catalysts of personal growth – intellectual, artistic, humanistic – and as agents to aid learning in the communities within the social context in which the projects take place.
Date: From November 1 The Alt Urgell Regional Council presents, as part of the All Saints Fair in Oliana, an exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary of the construction of the Oliana reservoir. This touring exhibition, introduces the visitor to different aspects of the dam’s commissioning and construction, and the social and territorial repercussions arising from it. The exhibition is expected to visit the municipalities surrounding the reservoir first, however, next year it will travel further afield. |
