Title: La Fàbrica Tèxtil | ![]() |
“The Textile Mill” was one of the most successful exhibitions ever mounted by the museum and was a big success with visitors. In addition it is the ideal setting for the dramatisations of life in a textile mill that the museum stages from time to time. “The Textile Mill” is not just one of mNACTEC’s permanent exhibitions, it is the one that explains the Vapor Aymerich, Amat i Jover mill, which was built in 1907 and was in operation until 1981. It was one of Terrassa’s major production centres and, like most of the mills in the city, was dedicated to the manufacture of woollen cloth. The mill was designed to carry out the complete process from the arrival of the raw wool to the finished products. |

If industrial heritage is the privileged channel into industrial society, then we must also consider the spaces, operations facilities, machinery and therefore the know-how and technical and social working conditions to be an integral part of the industrial heritage. Although undervalued for a long time, workers' living spaces have been the subject of many studies and innovations, the result of working class protest, but which ultimately gave rise to today's housing. Includes a CD with text in Spanish. |

Title: El respeto a la mirada atenta. Una ética para la era de la ciencia y la tecnología
|
![]() |
“Are you getting an eyeful? Look at me, don't turn away, take a good, long look at my ugliness in all its glory. You won't be the first; I'm used to it already”. Such is the scorn felt by the central character in Sergi Belbel's play “Sóc Lletja”. Learning to look at others with respect is a forgotten subject. The technological age in which we live offers a surplus of observable, criticisable and consumable products and learning to look at them closely is ever more difficult. This book sets out, with sharpness and ingenuity, the guidelines we can follow to become more attentive, sensitive and, in short, more respectful towards everything around us. |

A hydroelectric power station, an iron bridge, a steam locomotive and a hydraulic system are all historically and culturally important because they represent vehicles for the transmission of ways of seeing and understanding life. They are witnesses to the everyday and the collective memory of work and places. This book approaches the subject of the recovery and evaluation of industrial heritage, from the methodologies, strategies and tools for turning industrial spaces into museums to the creation of more complex entities with clear, unified visions, such as cultural landscapes and heritage parks. |

![]() |
The Quaderns de Didàctica i Difusió collection releases its 18 th number, this time dedicated to the Capellades Paper Mill Museum. The Vila Mill was founded as a museum in 1958 and has been part of the mNACTEC Regional System since 1986. As a typical example of a Catalan paper mill (and a witness to how the paper industry has influenced the landscape of Capellades), the mill museum shows how the activity of paper manufacturing was first organised in a single building, how the progressive mechanisation of the process developed until the introduction of current manufacturing processes, and also what the state of the paper manufacturing tradition in Catalonia is today. |
