With the support of the Railway Infrastructures Administrator (Adif) and the cooperation of the Museu de la Ciència i de la Tècnica de Catalunya (Science and Technology Museum of Catalonia), the museum has drafted a project that includes an expansion of the exhibition capacity of the centre, which will provide an attractive, dynamic and innovatory space.

This proposal has been positively appraised, as the general state budgets have earmarked a sum to cover part of the costs of the new project.

At the Museu del Ferrocarril de Vilanova i la Geltrú there is an outstanding space with locomotives from the old steam store. On the tracks we find a valuable collection of machines which are, and will continue to be, the central part of the precinct. Together with this space, the idea is to recover the original shed for the construction of the line in 1881, as well as to create a building to be used for the restoration of vehicles. 

This new museum intends to belong to the public and become a key piece in the city.
